That's a Wrap!

Last weekend in Perryville, we kicked off the 4th annual 573 Film Festival International with screenings of short films from all over the world. In addition to showing groovy films not offered anywhere else, the festival also holds film workshops and special guest speakers inside the film industry.

Filmmakers and film fans alike travel to Downtown Perryville every year to celebrate the art of film from multiple countries and cultures and the growing Indie film industry in our own local region. Watching movies from countries like Iran, Germany, Brazil, China, Chile, Russia, Turkey, France…and learning their perspective on the world is incredible! The 573 Film Festival, a non-political, unbiased, organization of film-lovers, is an ever-growing event.

This 573 Magazine Story is sponsored by The City of Perryville, Missouri!

There were multiple highlights from the weekend overall. Still, the most notable moments, personally for me, happened during the Kids Film Workshop. We were beyond blessed to watch the interest and passion of future filmmakers spark before our very eyes and witness the rapid growth in their self-confidence and their understanding of filmmaking.

Kids from all over Missouri attend the workshop every year to work with professional filmmakers and get a taste of real filmmaking. The kids are grouped according to their specific interests and talents and then assigned one of the workshop productions. Each team received a script, cast, and crew to assist them in their production. They create storyboards and then begin making their film.

The kids did fantastic work and rose to the occasion. The films turned out great! And now, these young filmmakers will enjoy the fruits of their labor with a Red Carpet Screening Event where their films will be shown on the big screen at the Perry Park Center Theater. That’s right! This Sunday, October 23rd, at 2PM, the casts and crews of the Kids Film Workshop will get to walk the red carpet in their coolest threads, pose for photographers, and watch the movies they made on the big screen with all their adoring fans. Friends, family, and spectators are welcome to come join the fun. Look fabulous and strut your stuff on the Red Carpet!

But the movie magic won’t stop there!

In addition to the Kids Film Workshop Red Carpet Screening, the 573 Film Festival will also be having an Awards Ceremony, announcing and celebrating all 573 Film Festival International 2022 winners!

A few short family-friendly selects from the winning films will be screened. There will also be a few sneak peeks from two of Motion Dog Films feature productions, Two Heads (currently in edit) and The Spring (the film currently being shot in Perryville). We think the clips are fantastic. It will be a fascinating afternoon.

It's going to be a good time!

All of the scheduled programing on Sunday is FREE and FAMILY-FRIENDLY. So bring your kids, your friends, your grandma, and your neighbor's barber's priest. It's going to be a good time!

Select screenings will be followed by cast and crew Q&A at the Perry Park Center Theater located at 800 Park Dr. in Perryville, Missouri. 2PM to 4PM

Admission is FREE (donations are appreciated). Be sure to come and enjoy this FREE event. And don’t forget to snap a selfie on the Red Carpet!
