The Sand Trap. Indoor Golf & Food!

The first official game of golf occurred in the 15th century in Scotland. Almost 300 years later, the well-known sport still completely captivates its players and audiences.  What would you say if I told you you can golf indoors in the 573?  We had a chance to check out The Sand Trap in Park Hills, and I tell you, it was a blast.  The golf.  The drinks.  The food.  It’s all there!

The Sand Trap indoor golf is amazing.

Walking into The Sand Trap, you have no idea what to expect—one side is dinner tables and a bar, and the other is three large full-swing golf simulators with driving and putting greens using real clubs and balls.  It’s so cool, and it is totally designed for any level of golfer, from pro to just want-to-have-a-try golfers.  You hit the ball, and sensors record your swing, where the ball hits the screen, and at what force…so the computer screen can project your drive following the ball through the course you choose—many courses to choose from.

There are three private driving stations at the Sand Trap.

The employees were super friendly, offering freshly made mixed drinks and freshly made food. Not only does The Sand Trap have golf but they also cater to their customers’ thirst and hunger as people enjoy a round of golf. At The Sand Trap not only do men, women, and children get to explore all the many games and courses they have but they are able to do so all while inside. Snowing and icy outside? Not a problem at all. Just come on in!

The camera image follows your shot as if a drone is right behind the ball.
Once your ball hits the screen, the system turns your drive into a high-def action video on the big screen.

The 573 Magazine had the opportunity to come in and try some fantastic shrimp and nachos, along with a few tasty drinks and beer served in frosted mugs. We also had a fresh-made burger that was out of this world.

The deliciousness of it all. Big dog shrimp...
What's better than hot nachos and cold beer—indoor golf?
Special thanks to our assistant Kenzie.

Kyle Hawkins and his wife Sarah opened The Sand Trap three years ago, making the sport of golf even more accessible for locals, especially on more dreary weather days. The Hawkins open their fun restaurant to friends and families of all ages—the perfect setting for birthday parties or Christmas work get-togethers. The Sand Trap also has many different bands on the weekends. Great for a night on the town with friends. Swing for some great food, a good game of golf, and an amazing time!
